Jack White - Frozen Charlotte - Album Of The Year Edition Jack White

Following on from ‘No Name’, ‘Frozen Charlotte’ (or ‘Frozen Charlatan’ depending on the variant you managed to snag) is an absolute masterclass in rock minimalism, seeing Jack White firmly back in the garage rock aesthetic that made him famous.

Full of whip-smart, grinding riffs, the album ploughs through its 13 tracks at pace never letting up—it’s raw, unproduced, and sounds excitingly live. The playing is both fantastically loose and boldly direct giving the feel of a band utterly comfortable with each other. This is no surprise when you realise this is a rare occasion when White has used the same band twice, being mostly the same line up as both his recent tour and ‘No Name’ and all the better for it! The biggest addition is organist Bobby Emerrett who gives the album a flavour all its own, elevating White’s familiar dirty guitar lines.

On a side note, the cover art features a sculpture from White’s first ever art exhibition "These Thoughts May Disappear" which we were lucky enough to be invited to the preview night of, and we even got to spend a bit of time with the man himself - who did not disappoint!

Frozen Charlotte - the 7th studio album from Jack White shows the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer at his best; backed by an incredible band (Patrick Keeler on drums, Dominic Davis on bass, Bobby Emmett on keys) whose collective hand is scorching hot after coming off a tour of universally-acclaimed performances. Instead of resting on a “job well done”, they went straight to work in the studio and laid down what became Frozen Charlotte.

Recorded in White's Third Man Studio in Nashville, this album shows Jack carrying on the same raucous, raw, and frenetic energy from his lauded 2024 album, No Name. 13 tracks of distinct feel and tone, Frozen Charlotte is an intense rock and roll punch with never far behind blues underpinnings... all of which fits right at home with long time fans while leaving an inviting open door to newcomers alike.
